Two NYPD Police Officers Maimed by Fireworks

One New York City police officer suffered serious eye and hand injuries, and another officer was taken to the hospital with face and hand injuries after the incident at Citi Field in Queens.

Two cops were maimed in a fireworks mishap at Citi Field in Queens early Monday, police sources said.

The injured officers appear to have brought the fireworks to work, sources said.

The 3:43 a.m. incident occurred in the stadium’s parking lot, where officers from the 110th Precinct were assigned to a mobile command center.

Officer Isaac Garcia, a six-year veteran, was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center with severe eye and hand injuries, sources said.

Officer Eric Dipple, a 17-year veteran, suffered face and hand injuries and was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

Two other cops were treated at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens for ringing in the ears.
