Cookeville police dashcam footage captured an incident when a tractor-trailer drove through a crash scene, pulling down a utility pole and power lines.

Dashboard camera footage captured a scary situation when a California police officer was nearly struck by power lines and utility pole when a semi tractor-trailer drove through a crash scene Tuesday.

Cookeville police responded to a single-vehicle crash at about 5:30 a.m. that had knocked down power lines along a roadway, the department stated in a social media post. While police worked the crash scene, a semi tractor-trailer came down the road, and an officer tried to flag down the driver to stop.

“The driver did not see the officer and struck the power lines causing the utility pole and power lines to break narrowly missing the officer and striking his patrol vehicle.” the department stated.

The dashcam video shows the officer furiously getting out the way of the tractor-trailer before the pole and power lines come crashing down in a shower of sparks. No one was injured in the incident, and it’s unclear how much damage the police cruiser sustained.

“We wanted to take this opportunity to ask you to help keep our officers safe. Please be cautious when you see emergency vehicles and take note of your surroundings, it could save a life,” the department stated.
