PROVIDENCE, RI — Three students injured in a December 13 mass shooting at Brown University have filed separate lawsuits alleging the school failed to implement adequate security and respond to warnings before the attack.

The lawsuits, filed last week in Rhode Island Superior Court, claim university officials ignored repeated reports and did not take sufficient measures to investigate or address concerning behavior by the gunman prior to the shooting.

Plaintiffs allege that Brown University did not increase security, restrict access to the Barus and Holley building where the shooting occurred, or act on warnings that could have prevented the attack, according to the court filings.

Two students were killed and nine others were injured in the shooting, which also triggered a multi-day manhunt after the suspect left campus and was later found dead.

University officials have said they are reviewing the lawsuits but have not yet issued detailed public statements responding to the allegations.
