LYNN, IND. — Town Marshal Brad Fisher of the Lynn Police Department died July 29 after being struck by a fleeing suspect vehicle while attempting to deploy a tire deflation device during a pursuit assistance operation.
Fisher responded to assist law enforcement personnel engaged in pursuit of a suspect operating a stolen vehicle. A Randolph County deputy had initiated a high-risk traffic stop on the stolen vehicle when the suspect fled the location.
As Fisher worked to position a tire deflation system on the roadway in an effort to stop the fleeing vehicle, the suspect vehicle struck the marshal. The suspect vehicle continued forward after the collision, subsequently colliding with a dump truck.
Law enforcement personnel at the scene apprehended the suspect following the collision sequence.
Fisher was transported to a hospital for emergency medical treatment. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Fisher’s 25 years of service to the Lynn community began in the fire service. He initially served as a firefighter and emergency medical technician before transitioning to law enforcement operations. Fisher held the positions of town marshal and street supervisor in his law enforcement role.
