Two Cape men are accused of surrounding an unmarked Barnstable police cruiser as one of the suspects allegedly fired a BB gun at the vehicle Saturday night, according to police.

The suspects — 29-year-old Jordan Berrio of Centerville, and 50-year-old Robert Carver of Hyannis — allegedly then sped away from the scene and were stopped soon after by police. The officer in the unmarked cruiser was not injured.

Both Berrio and Carver were arrested, charged with a litany of offenses, and released on $40 bail.

The two suspects are accused of using their vehicles to surround and box in the unmarked Barnstable police vehicle on Main Street in Hyannis, at around 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Berrio allegedly fired the BB gun at the driver’s side window and door, causing damage to the vehicle, police said.

Both Berrio and Carver fled the scene at a high rate of speed, but were stopped moments later by responding police units.

Berrio has been charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, discharging a BB gun on a public way, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding.

Carver has been charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Both Berrio and Carver are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Barnstable District Court.
