JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FLA. — A suspect was arrested after stealing a Jacksonville Beach Police Department pickup truck from the department’s secured lot while the vehicle contained firearms, equipment, and a K-9, according to police.

Surveillance video obtained by the department shows the suspect arriving at the police department’s rear lot and entering through an open gate. The man then entered a department pickup truck and drove it to the front lot, where he remained for several minutes before driving away from the facility.

Officers located the stolen vehicle within minutes of discovering it missing and conducted a traffic stop at gunpoint. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, according to dash camera footage released by the department. Police confirmed that K-9 Furyk, which was in the vehicle during the theft, was recovered safely and unharmed.

The stolen truck contained department firearms, tactical equipment, and other police property. The suspect was transported to detention and charged with burglary of a conveyance while armed, theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft, and trespassing on posted law enforcement property. No injuries were reported to officers during the apprehension.
