PARMA, OH— A man driving a car that was reported stolen in a carjacking in September led police on a chase Tuesday before being caught when he tried to run after crashing.

According to police, an officer spotted the red Ford Fusion at about 4:17 p.m. in the area of South Canterbury Road and Renwood Drive and attempted to pull it over. The car sped off, going to Westminster Drive and then turning north on Pearl Road.

The driver of the Fusion turned east on Snow Road, then tried to squeeze between two vehicles near the intersection with West 79th Street. The Fusion sideswiped both vehicles and the driver then bailed from the car and ran north.

A police dog was able to chase down the suspect, a 22-year-old Cleveland resident, on the 7600 block of Dresden Avenue.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was taken to University Hospital Parma, where he was treated for unspecified injuries. The people in the vehicles sideswiped during the chase were not injured.

Police say the Fusion involved in the chase was reported stolen at gunpoint in a carjacking on Sept. 20 in Parma.
