An Irving police officer’s dashboard camera caught a scary collision when another vehicle drover through a red light as the officer’s cruiser entered the intersection.

A Texas police department released dashboard camera footage of a scary crash involving a vehicle running a red light and colliding with a cruiser.
The incident happened early Monday as an Irving police officer was entering an intersection, the department stated in a social media post. That’s when another car barreled through a red light and into the path of the cruiser, which slammed into the side of the car.
Police played footage from the released video in slow motion, and a panel from the other car can be seen flying in the air from the impact.
“Thankfully no one was seriously injured or killed,” the department stated.
The officer was taken to the hospital and later released. He is at home recovering, according to the department.
