An armed man was fatally shot by Stockton police officers after he showed up at a station’s parking lot and began shooting.

A gunfight erupted at a California police station when a man showed up in the parking lot and started shooting late Wednesday, Dec. 8, according to the Stockton Police Department.
The man was killed when officers returned fire, officials said.
His identity and a motive have not been released.
It happened outside the department’s operations building at 22 E. Market St.
“The preliminary investigation indicates a man arrived at the front parking lot of the police department and began to fire a gun,” police officials said in a news release.
“Multiple Stockton police officers shot the man and he was pronounced deceased by medics. All officers are ok.”
The police station is closed “for the duration” while agencies investigate the shooting, officials said Thursday, Dec. 9.
A photo shared on Facebook showed a pistol was found on the sidewalk after the suspect was killed.
