An Indiana sheriff’s deputy made a special grocery delivery over the weekend to a woman who he had tried to make the trip to the store along a dangerous stretch of road on her electric scooter.

Hancock County Deputy Josh Cochard encountered the woman while responding to a report concerning a person on an electric scooter in Fortville Pike, the agency stated in a social media post. The woman, who was new to Hancock County and living at a local campground, had been making a hazardous 5-mile trek to the grocery store.

The woman explained that her electric scooter was her only form of transportation and that she felt secure in making it to her destination. But Cochard didn’t feel comfortable letting her continue on her shopping trip.

Instead, the deputy went to the store and returned with the woman’s groceries. He also left her with a list of transportation resources in the county for any future trips.
