“Sometimes you really never can predict where your shift will take you…”

That’s how a Facebook post by the Northampton Police Department concluded after announcing that the department had received a call for a “hog on the loose” in the area of Bridge Street on Thursday.

The post said police put out an “A.P.B. (All Pigs Bulletin)” for the animal and that they were able to capture the animal.

“NPD was able to corral the swine (named Michael) and return him back to its owner,” the post read.

Photos associated with the post showed a black and pink pig on a leash. Video showed officers walking down Bridge Street with the animal.

Northampton Police Chief Jody Kasper said Monday that officers got the call at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday about a “large wandering pig.”

The pig was returned to a barn on Bridge Street,” Kasper said.
