Dashboard camera footage captured a harrowing crash as an out-of-control tractor-trailer jackknifed on an icy highway and struck a Texas police cruiser with an officer inside last month.
The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 2 as Forth Worth police were responding to a crash and two disabled vehicles along Interstate 20 during an ice storm, WFAA-TV reports. During that response, a tractor-trailer lost control in the icy conditions and slammed into a police vehicle with an officer inside.
The crash was caught by another police vehicle’s dashboard camera, and the officer can be heard calling for help after it. Another officer pulled the injured officer from the wreckage when a second tractor-trailer struck the same cruiser.
The officers were finally able to scramble to the median before a third out-of-control tractor-trailer came barreling through and struck the cruiser a third time.
Both officers suffered minor injuries in the incident. The vehicle was totaled in the crashes.
