NAPLES, FL — Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies were forced to jump away from their patrol vehicle before it was struck by a suspected impaired driver during a traffic stop, body-worn and patrol camera video released by law enforcement shows.
The incident unfolded in Naples when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle suspected of impaired driving, according to the sheriff’s office. As the deputies engaged the driver, the vehicle lurched and struck their marked patrol cruiser.
In the video, deputies are seen stepping back just moments before the collision, which occurred at the roadside during the traffic enforcement stop. Law enforcement officials said the deputies were not seriously injured.
The driver was taken into custody at the scene and faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and other related offenses pending review by the state attorney’s office.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash and has released the footage as part of transparency efforts surrounding the incident.
