COLUMBUS, OHIO — A man was arrested and charged with felonious assault after intentionally ramming a Columbus police cruiser multiple times during a traffic incident June 29 near West Broad Street and North Warren Avenue.

Officers were responding to a separate call when they discovered a crash blocking part of the roadway. Relosse Delievre was identified as the driver involved in the initial crash. Because his vehicle was operable, officers directed Delievre to move it to a nearby gas station to clear the roadway.

Shortly after receiving the directive, Delievre drove his vehicle directly into the rear of the police cruiser, striking it with significant force. Body camera footage from the incident captures one officer asking “Why is this person following us?” moments before the first collision.

Court records indicate Delievre struck the patrol vehicle a second time from behind, then attempted to execute a precision intervention technique maneuver before striking the front driver’s side of the cruiser. The severity and nature of the damage to the police vehicle, along with mechanical trauma including smoke from the engine area, were visible in body camera footage.

Both officers exited the cruiser and ordered Delievre to display his hands. Delievre exited his vehicle through the passenger-side window. Officers took him into custody at the scene.

Both officers sustained injuries during the ramming and received treatment at the scene.

Detectives conducted an interview with Delievre at a hospital after he received medical evaluation. During the interview, court records indicate Delievre stated that he knew he had struck a police cruiser and that he intentionally struck it.

Delievre was transported to Franklin County jail and booked on two counts of felonious assault. He was arraigned July 1, and a judge established his bond at $2 million.
