SWEET SPRINGS, MO. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released dash-cam video of a June 2025 fatal shootout between a state trooper and a man suspected in a double homicide, authorities said.

The incident unfolded June 17, 2025, in Saline County near Sweet Springs when officers from the Concordia Police Department attempted to stop a motorcycle operated by 23-year-old Francis Alcantar-Chavez, wanted in connection with two homicides, the patrol said.

The released video shows the motorcycle crashing into a Missouri State Highway Patrol patrol vehicle as troopers worked to effect the stop, followed by Alcantar-Chavez grabbing a handgun and firing at a trooper, striking the officer’s ballistic vest.

The trooper returned fire during the confrontation, and Alcantar-Chavez was killed at the scene, according to the patrol. The trooper was treated for injuries and has since fully recovered and returned to duty.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol advised that the full dash-cam footage provides a comprehensive view of how the encounter unfolded and cautioned viewer discretion due to the intensity of the incident.
