COVINGTON, Ga. — A Covington police officer was dragged through a parking lot at high speed on Aug. 14 after a traffic stop of a shoplifting suspect turned into a brief pursuit, according to 11Alive.
Body camera footage shows the officer reaching into the suspect’s vehicle in an attempt to put it in park. Dash camera video then shows the driver accelerating rapidly through the parking lot with the officer clinging to the door, dragging the officer an estimated few hundred yards before releasing.
The suspect was later arrested at her home, according to 11Alive. She faces charges of shoplifting, fleeing to elude and aggravated assault on a police officer.
