LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department announced plans to increase patrols across the city, deploying additional officers including mounted units and air support, as part of a strategy to address a reported surge in residential burglaries.

LAPD Chief officials said the expanded patrol initiative is designed to deter burglars, improve response times and provide visible police presence in communities experiencing elevated property crime levels.
The effort will include officers on foot and in patrol vehicles, mounted units on horseback and aviation assets to offer aerial surveillance and support for ground units, department representatives said.
