BEND, OR — A suspect driving an SUV equipped with explosives crashed the vehicle into an athletic club in Bend, Oregon, late Saturday, injuring multiple people and prompting a multi-agency response, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a vehicle collision at a fitness facility where the driver’s SUV breached the building, and initial assessments indicated the vehicle was rigged with explosive-like devices, law enforcement officials said.

First responders evacuated the immediate area and called in bomb technicians to secure the scene and investigate the suspected explosive components, according to police statements.
