LAS VEGAS, NV — Two bystanders were killed and several others were injured during an active-shooter incident inside a downtown Las Vegas grocery store Sunday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials said.
Law enforcement responded to reports of shots fired inside the store in the early afternoon, where the suspect was seen opening fire on customers, according to police statements and body-worn camera footage released by authorities.
The footage released by the department shows armed civilians inside the store confronting and fatally shooting the suspect as gunfire erupted, officials said.
Police confirmed that two people inside the store were killed and that several others were struck by gunfire; those wounded were taken to local hospitals for treatment, the department said.
Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and review evidence, including additional camera footage, as part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting.
