PORT ISABEL, TX — A U.S. Border Patrol agent died after suffering a medical emergency during a maritime training exercise along the Texas Gulf Coast, agency officials confirmed.

The agent experienced a medical issue while participating in routine waterborne training near Port Isabel, prompting emergency response and evacuation to a nearby hospital.

Despite medical treatment, the agent died from the illness, the Border Patrol said, and no other personnel were reported injured during the exercise.
