BERLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ — New Jersey officials released body-worn camera and surveillance footage of a July 29, 2025, fatal police-involved shooting in Camden County this week, according to a statement from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.

Detectives with the New Jersey State Police, assigned to the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, located a 37-year-old man on the front steps of a home and ordered him to show his hands, the Attorney General’s Office said.

The released video shows the man reaching into his pocket and producing a firearm after officers issued commands, prompting a State Police detective to fire his service weapon, striking the man, officials said.

Medical aid was administered at the scene before the man was transported by emergency responders to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, the statement said.

Investigators recovered a revolver loaded with live ammunition at the scene, and the Attorney General’s Office is conducting a statutorily required investigation.

Under New Jersey law, evidence from the shooting will be presented to a grand jury to determine whether it supports an indictment of the officer involved, the office said.
