MERIDEN, CT — Body camera footage released by authorities shows a Connecticut police officer becoming trapped inside a suspect’s vehicle as the driver attempted to flee during an arrest attempt, according to officials.

The incident occurred as officers were working to apprehend a suspect seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle. During the encounter, the driver suddenly accelerated, striking one officer and carrying another officer partially inside the vehicle as it moved.

Authorities said the situation escalated as officers struggled with the suspect inside the vehicle. During the confrontation, the suspect attempted to reach for an officer’s firearm, prompting officers to take immediate action to regain control of the situation.

Additional officers responded to the scene, and the suspect was eventually subdued and taken into custody. Officials have not released further details about injuries related to the incident.
