Authorities said the incident began around 4 a.m. when Moore PD responded to shots fired at an apartment complex, finding a female fatally shot and a male wounded. Around 7:30 a.m., officers found another man with a medical emergency at a second complex; he later died. Investigators determined his vehicle had been stolen and entered it into NCIC. That vehicle was later recovered at an Oklahoma City carjacking scene, where the suspect abandoned it and took another car at gunpoint. At 12:24 p.m., Oklahoma City officers responded to a third homicide in the 2100 block of NE 26th St., believed tied to the same suspect. KOCO

An automated license plate reader flagged the stolen vehicle near SE 44th & I-35, prompting officers to attempt a stop. The suspect fled, crashed into a concrete barrier at I-240/Eastern, and ran onto the interstate with a pistol, where he was hit by two vehicles before officers opened fire. Officials identified the suspect as Deante (also reported as Deonte) Hawthorne, 34; he had a history of violent offenses, police said. The shooting officer was placed on routine administrative leave pending internal and external reviews. KOCO+1
