Jan. 20, 2023 An off-duty Gwinnett County police officer is being praised for his quick actions that helped save the life of a baby after the child stopped breathing because of a seizure.

Body camera footage captured the quick actions by an off-duty Georgia police officer and paramedics that saved the life of a baby who had stopped breathing last year.
The incident happened in September when a neighbor ran over to the home of Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Linsey Meador, who was off duty at the time, WAGA-TV reports. The neighbor told Meador that their child had stopped breathing, and the two ran back to the neighbor’s home.
Once there, Meador tried to revive the baby, while the officer’s wife called 9-1-1. Eventually, medics reached the scene, but Meador was praised for his response, which saved the baby’s life.
“What we do in training hopefully prepares us for it,” Meador told WAGA. “Hopefully, you never get to use it, but when we do, it’s just second nature when it’s time to act. I just grabbed it and went.”
Doctors determined that the baby had stopped breathing because of a seizure. The child has fully recovered from the incident.
