BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore Police Department officer was injured Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle during a foot pursuit, police said.

Officers attempted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Eastern Avenue when the driver fled the vehicle and ran, prompting a foot pursuit, according to BPD.

During the chase, the suspect’s vehicle struck an officer, who sustained injuries that were described by police as non-life-threatening; the officer was treated at a local hospital, officials said.

Authorities arrested the suspect at the scene following the collision, and charges are expected as the department continues its investigation.

The Baltimore Police Department is reviewing body-worn camera footage and seeking additional information to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the officer’s injury.
