A 12-year-old child is expected to make a full recovery after being saved by Warren Police Officer Jacob Brooklier, who performed life-saving CPR to revive the unresponsive child who had nearly drowned in a hotel pool.
On the evening of Saturday, March 1, 2025, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Warren police dispatch received an urgent call about a child who was not breathing and had been pulled from the pool at TownPlace Suites, located at 7601 Chicago Road. Officer Jacob Brooklier was already present at the hotel for an unrelated matter when the distress call came in.
Without hesitation, Officer Brooklier rushed to the pool area. By the time he arrived, bystanders had pulled the child from the water and were attempting CPR. Officer Brooklier quickly took charge of the situation, placing the child in the proper rescue position and beginning chest compressions. For two critical minutes, Officer Brooklier continued the life-saving efforts while also directing the panicked bystanders and coordinating with incoming emergency responders.
The child was revived just as Warren firefighters arrived at the scene. The child was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition but has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police have praised Officer Brooklier’s quick thinking and steadfast dedication to saving the child’s life. They also highlighted the teamwork of dispatch, the Fire Department, and fellow officers, who helped clear intersections to speed the child’s transport to the hospital. This collaboration was vital in ensuring the child’s survival.
