NORFOLK, VA — One person was killed and two others were critically injured Thursday morning in a shooting at Old Dominion University’s Constant Hall, officials said.
Norfolk police, university police and federal agents including the FBI and ATF responded to reports of gunfire inside the classroom building, prompting an immediate campus lockdown, authorities reported.
First responders arrived within minutes and located the suspected gunman, who was found dead at the scene, law enforcement said.
The two injured victims were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in critical condition, a hospital spokesperson confirmed.
Old Dominion University officials canceled classes and suspended campus operations for the day following the incident as investigators processed the scene.
The FBI is engaged in the investigation, working with local and state law enforcement to determine the circumstances and motive of the shooting, officials said.
