ASHLAND, OH — The Ashland Police Division and Ashland County Sheriff’s Office have received state grant awards to support and sustain their body-worn camera programs, officials said.

Under the Ohio Body-Worn Camera Grant Program, the Ashland Police Division was awarded approximately $55,783 to help offset costs associated with its camera system, including storage and licensing fees, according to local officials.
The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office received about $17,010 from the same grant round, which will be used to support camera maintenance, storage and related technology costs.
The funding comes from a broader allocation of roughly $4.4 million administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Office of Criminal Justice Services to assist law enforcement agencies statewide.
Police leadership said the state grant support will help reduce the financial burden of long-term equipment upkeep, data retention and software requirements as departments continue to use body-worn cameras in daily operations.
