STOUGHTON, WI — Police in Stoughton used a department drone and trail cameras to identify and cite a woman accused of repeatedly defecating in a city park following numerous resident complaints, officials said Thursday.

Stoughton Police Department

Stoughton police reported they received dozens of reports regarding human feces and used toilet paper along the walking path at a local park. Officials did not disclose the specific park involved.

After installing trail cameras and reviewing footage that showed a recurring pattern of activity during early morning hours, the department deployed a trained drone operator to monitor the area from above.

The drone reportedly recorded a 46-year-old woman defecating in the park, and officers subsequently made contact with her on the ground. She was cited for indecent conduct, police said.

In a statement, the Stoughton Police Department said the woman is not homeless and that they do not believe she has mental health concerns.

The Stoughton Police Department did not provide details on potential court dates or additional legal actions.
