March 22, 2023 A Cobb County police officer crashed his patrol unit into the car of a man wanted in connection with a murder in Miami after the suspect fled during an attempted traffic stop.

A man wanted in connection with a homicide in South Florida was taken to a hospital Monday afternoon following a police pursuit in Cobb County, authorities said.

Cobb police received a notification from a license plate reader that identified a vehicle wanted in connection with the homicide in Miami. Officers located the vehicle near Cumberland Mall and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, police said.

A brief chase ensued, and an officer used his patrol car to disable the vehicle on Cobb Parkway near Akers Mill Road. There was a large police presence at the scene of the crash. Both the officer and suspect suffered minor injuries.

The suspect, who was not publicly identified, will be taken to the Cobb County jail following his release from the hospital, police said.

Details about the homicide in Miami were not immediately provided.
