An Indiana police officer was attacked with his own Taser when a suspect grabbed the weapon during an arrest.
The incident happened when an Evansville police officer saw Robert Medlock fail to stop at an intersection and signal a turn, WFIE-TV reports. After stopping Medock in a front yard, the officer searched him and found a small jar filled with suspected methamphetamine.
The officer ordered Medlock to put his hands behind his back, but the suspect began to flee. That led to a struggle between the two, and Medlock was able to get a hold of the officer’s Taser.
Medlock deployed the Taser, and the probes attached to the officer’s ear. The suspect then shocked the officer three times before running to a garage with people inside. Once more officers reached the scene, Medlock was apprehened.
The officer’s injuries included several cuts and bruises, a chipped tooth and puncture wounds on his ear. Medlock was charged with battery, disarming and resisting law enforcement, battery with a deadly weapon and other counts.
