BROOKLYN, NY — Seven marked patrol vehicles assigned to the New York Police Department’s Strategic Response Group had multiple tires slashed while parked near the unit’s Brooklyn headquarters, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.
The vandalism was discovered about 4:30 p.m. Monday outside the Strategic Response Group 3 headquarters on Coney Island Avenue near Caton Avenue in the Kensington neighborhood, according to police.
New York police reported that nine tires on seven cruisers were either slashed or punctured, resulting in several vehicles being pulled from service pending repairs.
Detectives from the NYPD’s Brooklyn North Detective Division are canvassing the area and reviewing surveillance video to identify suspects, officials said. As of the latest update, no arrests have been announced.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to contact investigators.
