PASADENA, CA — A Pasadena Police Department officer was shot and wounded and an armed suspect was killed Monday night following a shootout during an officer-involved incident in Pasadena, authorities said.
Officers responded shortly before 7:30 p.m. to a 911 call reporting an individual with a gunshot wound near the Sierra Madre Villa Metro station, where they located an adult victim suffering a shoulder injury and rendered aid.
While assessing that scene, additional officers spotted a man believed to be connected to the earlier shooting and initiated a foot pursuit, Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris said. The suspect and officers exchanged gunfire during the pursuit.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and the wounded officer was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery and was reported to be in stable condition, department officials said.
The Pasadena Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office are conducting an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and additional details will be released as they become available.
