GREEN CITY, MO — A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper remains hospitalized with serious injuries after a head-on collision east of Green City on Jan. 5, 2026, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 7:20 a.m. on Missouri Highway 6, roughly 1.5 miles east of Green City, when a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Milan man crossed the center line and struck the patrol vehicle head-on, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

The trooper, identified as 28-year-old Colin Osborne, was initially taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and later transferred to University Hospital in Columbia for further treatment, officials said. As of Jan. 6, he was listed in fair condition.

A 62-year-old Milan woman who was a passenger in the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sullivan County coroner. Five other occupants of the pickup sustained injuries, ranging from minor to serious, and were transported to area hospitals, authorities said.

Missouri Highway Patrol, assisted by local law enforcement and first responders, closed the highway for several hours to investigate the crash and clear the scene. The patrol said its investigation into the collision is ongoing.
