BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO — A man suspected of killing a deputy sheriff in Ste. Genevieve County on Friday was later involved in a deadly shootout with law enforcement that left a second Missouri deputy dead Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The Bollinger County deputy was killed during a traffic stop in the county when the suspect fired on officers, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. Two civilians were also struck and taken to area hospitals with injuries.
The suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement during the exchange, according to the patrol. The identity of the suspect and law enforcement victims has not yet been released pending family notifications.
Friday’s shooting in Ste. Genevieve County involved the same suspect, who fatally shot a deputy during a traffic stop, authorities said. That deputy’s death prompted a multi-agency search that continued into Saturday.
