MIAMI, FL — Body camera video released this week shows a Miami police officer was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic in May 2025 and fired at the driver through the windshield, according to local media reports and video review.

The officer was guiding traffic near a concert venue when a black BMW began to inch forward and struck him. The officer climbed onto the hood of the vehicle and then fired his service weapon through the windshield as the vehicle continued to move.

After the vehicle came to a stop and the officer rolled off the hood, the driver exited and was ordered to the ground, the video shows.

Additional officers arrived and took the driver into custody at the scene.

The driver was later charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated battery on an officer, authorities said.

Investigators have reviewed the body camera footage, and the status of any ongoing internal review or disciplinary process was not immediately disclosed.
