(BOSSIER CITY, LA —) A Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy died Wednesday after his patrol vehicle was struck by a train while he was conducting a traffic assignment, authorities said.
The deputy was identified as 40-year-old Timothy Jordan, a four-year veteran of the agency. Preliminary information indicates Jordan’s department-issued, fully marked vehicle was hit by the train about 8 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 3 near Kingston Road in North Bossier.
Jordan was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries and later succumbed to those injuries, according to a news release from the Louisiana State Police.
Officials said impairment is not suspected in the collision; routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Louisiana State Police Troop G Division is leading the investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available.
