PHILADELPHIA, PA — Law enforcement agencies across the United States increased patrols and security visibility at diplomatic, cultural, religious and community locations following joint U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran Feb. 28.
Departments including the New York Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department described the heightened patrols as precautionary and said they were coordinating with federal partners even though no credible domestic threats had been identified.
In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott directed the Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard to strengthen protection at energy facilities, ports and other critical sites, and activated service members to support state and local efforts.
Officials in the Delaware Valley said local law enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security issued alerts urging agencies to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity, while underscoring assessments that a large-scale attack on U.S. soil was unlikely.
The increased security posture comes as federal, state and local authorities monitor overseas developments and assess potential impacts on homeland safety.
