MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A 37-year-old woman was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday amid a large-scale federal immigration enforcement operation, the Department of Homeland Security said. NBC 6 South Florida

DHS said that ICE agents were conducting targeted enforcement actions when a group of people began blocking officers, and that the woman “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them,” calling the incident “an act of domestic terrorism.” An ICE officer fired “defensive shots,” resulting in the woman’s death. Local authorities, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Police Chief Brian O’Hara, reviewed video of the incident and expressed differing accounts of what transpired, with the chief noting the vehicle appeared to be blocking the roadway and moved while officers approached. The shooting occurred amid a deployment of more than 2,000 federal agents and officers assigned to immigration enforcement efforts in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
