MODESTO, Calif. — Modesto police used a sheriff’s helicopter to help capture a man accused of an attempted rooftop burglary at a Best Buy store after employees reported hearing footsteps above the sales floor, authorities said.
Responding to the call, officers requested assistance from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Air Support Unit. The crew in AIR101 located a man perched on the roof and then followed him on video as he climbed down and ran into a nearby neighborhood, guiding ground units to his position, police said. Officer
The suspect—Oscar Llanos, 40, of Modesto—was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted burglary and multiple probation violations, according to officials. Investigators also recovered burglary tools from the roof where the man had been seen. Officer
