WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH—Two police officers were injured in a Saturday morning crash on Interstate 480, authorities say.

One of the officers is in stable condition at the hospital and the other officer has been treated and released in the crash that happened on I-480 westbound near Warrensville Center Road, Warrensville Heights police Lt. Randy Sobczyk said.

The officers were tending to another crash in that area when an uninvolved vehicle lost control and struck a police officer in a cruiser and another police officer outside a police cruiser, Sobczyk said.

The crash caused a major traffic backup as State Highway Patrol blocked the lanes so the crashes could be investigated.

More information will be released at a later time, Sobczyk said.

He urges people to slow down when approaching an emergency scene.
