WILLOUGHBY, OH– A police cruiser was damaged on Christmas Day in an accident that stemmed from adverse road conditions from Winter Storm Elliott.

The crash happened about 11:15 a.m. on Ohio 2, east of Lost Nation Road, as an officer assisted a driver who was involved in a single-car accident, police said.

The officer stood outside of the vehicle that was involved in the crash when he noticed 2001 Toyota Tundra truck coming toward him. The driver had lost control. The officer jumped on the median wall for safety, police said.

The Tundra struck the passenger side of the police cruiser. Both vehicles sustained damage, but no injuries were reported.

The 63-year-old driver of the Tundra, whose identity was withheld by police, received a ticket for failure to control and was issued a court date.
