A man wanted on drug charges led Oklahoma deputies on a chase last week that ended at the county jail, where he surrendered.

“He was going to be taken there anyway, so, you know, kudos to him,” Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III told KFOR-TV

The incident began at about 11 a.m. March 8 when deputies tried to serve Devin Kiser with an arrest warrant for drugs. Kiser spotted the deputies and immediately sped off, sparking a pursuit through downtown Oklahoma City.

The chase eventually ended at the Oklahoma County Detention Center, and body camera footage shows Kiser surrendering in the parking lot.

“Made it a lot easier on us, but we would have liked it if he just pulled over and we could have handled things in a much easier, safer way,” said Johnson.

According KOKH-TV, Kiser allegedly tossed several bags of suspected meth out the window of his car during the chase that deputies recovered. He faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance and eluding a police officer.
