Dispatchers got a call at about 3 a.m. Monday about a man who had been lying on the ground near a Dodge Charger for about 30 minutes, WSVN reported. Emergency crews arrived, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Ch. 7, the officer was a lieutenant who had been with Hollywood police for two decades.
“It has been an extremely sad day for the Hollywood Police Department,” said a statement by the Hollywood Police Department. “One of our officers who was off duty, unexpectedly passed away. Plantation Police is handling the death investigation. No other information will be given at this time.”
