2 Wash. Police Officers Stabbed; 1 Seriously Wounded

When Olympia police were trying to arrest a man accused of setting fire to a neighbor’s apartment door, the suspect allegedly stabbed two officers in their legs.

Two Washington police officers were stabbed—one seriously—while trying to arrest a suspect Thursday.

The incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. when Olympia police officers were responding to a call concerning a man lighting a neighbor’s apartment door, KCPQ-TV reports. The officers tried to apprehend the suspect, but the man stabbed both officers.

During the altercation, one of the officers shot and struck the suspect. He was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

The stabbed officers were taken to the hospital. One officer was in serious but stable condition, and the other officer suffered an injury that wasn’t considered life-threatening.

The shooting is under investigation by the Regional Critical Incident Investigation Team.
