An injured New York State Police trooper took shots at a car that struck him on a New York City bridge Saturday.

The incident happened at about 1 p.m.along the Manhattan stretch of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge headed to the Bronx, WNBC-TV reports. A vehicle hit a trooper as he was conducting a traffic stop, and he then opened fire at the fleeing car.

No one was struck by the shots, and two people were taken into custody. The officer suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The ensuing investigation shut down large spans of the bridge for a few, causing major backups of hundreds of vehicles during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
